Shockwave / Pulsed Wave Therapy

Shockwave Technology also known as EPAT and Pulsed Wave can successfully address acute and chronic pain such as: Knee Pain, Heel Pain, Foot Pain, Ankle Pain, Hamstring Pain, Back Pain, Neck Pain, Shoulder Pain, Elbow Pain, Wrist Pain and Hand Pain. It is also used to provide trigger point therapy, address sports injuries, scar tissue, stress-fractures, enhance bone healing, and much more.

Shockwave therapy treatment method: high-energy sound waves are introduced into the painful areas of the body. It is one of the most advanced and highly effective non-invasive treatment methods. The treatment works by helping to improve the regenerative potential, enhancing blood circulation to regenerate damaged tissue.
Beneficial effects are often experienced after only 1 or 2 treatments and there is no downtime. The non-surgical therapy for pain eliminates pain and restores mobility, thus quickly improving patients’ quality of life.

Q: How many treatments are generally needed?

A: The number of sessions needed depends on the condition that is being treated. In general most people notice improvement within 2 to 3 treatments and treatment plans rarely go beyond 10 visits. Each treatment session takes about 5 to10 minutes and can vary depending on the condition that is being treated.

Q: What type of conditions can be treated with Shockwave Technology?

Shockwave treatment can successfully address acute and chronic pain such as: Knee Pain, Heel Pain, Foot Pain, Ankle Pain, Hamstring Pain, Back Pain, Neck Pain, Shoulder Pain, Elbow Pain, Wrist Pain and Hand Pain. It is used to provide trigger point therapy, address sports injuries and assist in reduction and repair of scar tissue.

Q: What type of Therapy system do you use?

We use the enPuls Version 2.0 from Zimmer MedizinSysteme

The enPuls is unique mobile radial pulse therapy system. The applicator head is patented electromagnetic technology providing the most reliable and durable unit available.

The applicator head delivers a ballistic projectile transferring kinetic energy to the transmitter head in the hand piece. The kinetic energy is transformed into impact energy in the applicator head resulting in a pulse radiating out from the contact area into the desired treatment area.

Unique enPuls “Soft” Pulses

EnPuls creates unique radial pulses by using a projectile 5 times heavier than standard air compressor systems and a reduced final velocity upon contact with the applicator. Through the force of the accelerator and mass of the projectile, are efficient down to 35 mm depth, but are more comfortable for the patient than comparable systems

Q: Who can perform the therapy?

In our Clinic the therapy can be performed by the Doctor of Chiropractic, Physiotherapist or Registered Massage Therapist. Reimbursement from extended benefit carriers is available.
